What is Serials Solutions Medialab?
Serials Solutions Medialab is the Amsterdam-based office where AquaBrowser (demo) is developed and the regional headquarters for Southern Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
AquaBrowser is the world's number one solution for libraries to open up their content over the web: books, music, movies, articles, community information, etc. It provides libraries with a unified experience for search, browsing, discovery, social networking and personalization. AquaBrowser can be found in libraries around the world, including over 120 library systems in the USA, libraries in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Italy and 80% of all public libraries in the Netherlands. Today, nearly 2,000 library locations are serving over 60 million people worldwide with the AquaBrowser unified search, discover, refine experience.
Aquabrowser became part of the Serials Solutions product family when Dutch company Medialab solutions
BV was acquired in 2007, after it had conquered the US market. This combined the superior search and
interface technology developed by MediaLab with the sales and marketing expertise of Serials Solutions.
Medialab Solutions BV was founded in 1990 by Professor Thijs Chanowski who has pioneered important
innovations in media, and human computer interaction. Until 2000, it was a dedicated research facility and
part of BSO Origin Philips. In 2000, Medialab entered the market and turned its scientific achievements into
successful searching solutions. Medialab has always been dedicated to making information more accessible by
applying cutting edge artificial intelligence.
The Serials Solutions Medialab office has been designed to enhance the creative experience of the best possible team, provide a professional work space and encourage open communication. The office is located at the heart of Amsterdam's media technology district on the north side of the river IJ, close to companies like MTV, VNU Media and idTV.
