The job

The Implementation & Support Engineer is a technical product expert who installs, configures and supports Serials Solutions’ AquaBrowser product. The Engineer works closely with internal team members and external customers to ensure a smooth and accurate implementation. The Engineer is responsible for technical design, configuration and coding aspects of implementing a library’s AquaBrowser installation. This includes general UI design, configuration of the AquaBrowser software and integration of AquaBrowser with other library systems. In addition to implementation, the Engineer is a key member of the team that provides ongoing support to our customer base.

This is a technical position that requires knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Web applications in a .NET-environment.

Your profile

  • 2 years experience in hands-on web-based application software development, including HTML, XML, XSL, XSLT, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work well in high pressure situations with changing priorities.
  • Basic Windows Server administration knowledge.
  • Experience providing technical support in a customer service role.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to produce results both independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be comfortable learning new technologies and tools.
  • Working knowledge of library industry concepts and standards preferred.
  • Experience with multiple content schema, particularly XML, MARC and Dublin Core preferred.
  • ASP, VBScript and C# experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical configuration of AquaBrowser options to client specifications.
  • Design and develop AquaBrowser application code based on clients’ business requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers and other engineers to design technical solutions that solve client problems, including providing project task effort estimates and ongoing status updates.
  • Maintain customer implementations and provide ongoing support for defect and problem resolution.
  • write procedures to map various customer data sources into our internal database structure.
  • participate in the regular out-of-office support service.

Qualifications

  • A computer science or related HBO degree or equivalent experience.
